Hewee I'm not, but I thought I'd get you started :)

To keep any kind of resolution, rather than just enlarging the picture, I printed it out and then scanned at a higher resolution..seemed to work better, then I sharpened it a bit, it still needs a bit of clean-up, and then the colors added...just thought I'd give it a shot...Rhett :)

* Edit...as you can tell, that's going to be tough to enlarge, not much there to work with !

Well I went to the site and clicked on the very same image you posted here and got this here that is bigger and it also showes more.

http://dook.wuffpaws.com/public/Dook_Styles_.jpg

Now if there are no breaks in the lines you can just use the paint bucket to color each part.
What I mean by breaks in in the lines that make up the image.
Like from the hair to the face, face to eye's, face to nose etc.
If you was to use a color you want on the hair you don't want it going to the face or other parts.
But if it does just zoom in so you can find the break and fill it in with a pixel or two.

There are pastel color Swatches you can get.

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=pastel+color+swatches

What image program do you have? Be more easy to try to find a pastel color Swatches you could add to your program if there is one.

Another thing you can paint it the colors you want and then use a plugin effect that will give it a pastel effect.

How big do you want to make the picture? Do you only want to use the part you posted or the image in the link I posted?

You know I had just started the tracing thing in PhotoImpact so if I could get it to trace all of it you could then make it very very big without any losing anything.
But will it trace it all or not I don't know.
Plus there are the jpg artifacts in the image to start with that will make it harder.

OK here is the same image but I took out the grays and made then white.
After looking at it again I think I should redo it and made the dark gray black because I opened up lines that did not have a break in them.
See the right side of the face by the mouth to see what I mean.

Hi hewee...Rhett... :)

Thanks for helping...I've managed to enlarge your whole drawing and been able to print that out on A4...I have Ulead...Photo Impact...and Jasc...think that's the three I have...I need to reinstall them...took them off while I wasn't using them because I could do with the space...

Any way I want to crop out the ' face ' the one I posted above ( wearing my glasses no less ) colour and print out on photo paper about A4 size to frame and hang..I find doing things like that a little difficult...getting the hang of all the tools to use takes me ages...then if I don't use them for a while I forget how...

What's this ' tracing ' in Photo Impact...

Going looking for those pastel colour swatches.... :)

Perfect hewee...I tried before to resize to fit A4 but it didn't look too good...so grainy...This time I've saved your one then just in the printer I checked A4 size that gave me a box to 'fit to page' and great... it's printed out perfect size...clear as a bell...I asked for tips and you have done it for me...I'll go ahead now and find those pastels you suggested...sort the lines out and practice using the paint bucket or brushes to fill....Thanx..... :)

Great to hear. I used the .png format is why it is better.
Wish I had a site to get the pastels swatches from because I know I have been to them in the pass but don't have a bookmark so that was the reason for the seach.
You will need to pain some with the brush too. Also with the brush you have a lot more options. With PhotoImpact and other images program you can also have a texture using the brush. Also in PhotoImpact when you pick the brush you can click on "mode" and paint with the brush the part you want and then you click on "mode" again. Your now have a layer of only the part you just painted. You can move it, repaint it, add texture and all the other option you can do to that layer real easy. Even make a copy of it to layer over itself.

Hewee,
I dont know if this is any use for what you are doing, its a pastel filter.
here is the site
http://www.xero-graphics.co.uk/
Towards the right on the screen there is "Free Photoshop Plugins", click it.
Then click on "Xero Plugins Set 3", on that page you will see the link to "Pastellise".
It shows some screenshots which you click to enlarge and the filter can be downloaded.
Happy Easter to you, :)

Thanks Kath :)

Great site for pluins.

Yes it can add the pastel look to your image after you paint it and I am sure it wil be great to have because no two pastal filters are the same so it may be better then others.
But you still have to paint you image and that is why I said get a paster color swatch because then you load that swatch and all the colors you get to pick from are pastel.

Thanks Kath, you have a Happy Easter too. :)
