I have a couple hundred old MS Projects that I made in 97-98.
My new software (MS Project 2007) won't open them.
How do I salvage all this work?

MS Project 2007 opens and beeps then I get:
Project cannot open file.
Check that the file name and path are correct.
Check that the file format is recognized by Project.
Project files saved in a version earlier than Microsoft Project 978 can't be opened

Do you still have Project 97 on another PC? IF so export it to an Excel or CSV file then import it into 2007.

You do not still have the old installation CDs for 97? Could you load it on another computer to do what I said?

OpenOffice will often open M$ files that even M$ cannot open--- It is a free Office suite--- and all future upgrades will also be free (Developed as an Open Source project)
It can be downloaded here:
http://www.openoffice.org/

Give it a try and I am pretty confident you will be happy with the results- I have used OpenOffice for many years (exclusively).

Could you post if you download this and get it working with regards to reading your MS Project 97 files?
