Hello. Does anyone know if it is possible to use a hard drive(C:) from one machine and stick it in another totally different system as (C:)? Now remeber that the hard drive has 98se from the old machine on it. It seems like it should work. Has anyone ever done this? I will let you know about my experiment. I appreciate any comments. LS

Well... it will and it won't. It should theoretically work, but the first time you boot it will install a whole bunch of new drivers and in the past when I have done it on slower computers it tends to lock up a lot. It should work alright though... just make sure you have a win98 cd handy. :)

It will work if you have not installed proprietary chipset drivers on the hd for the old system. If you have, windows cannot boot on the new system. Either way I do not recommend that you do that. You will be much better off if you do a clean install of the operating system.
