I received this system from my daughter who purchased it 8 years ago. We are now purchasing a Sony xbr LCD HD tv and would like to hook up these speakers. I need to purchase a CD player and receiver, as well. There is no wire with these speakers. I was told that I need to purchase new wire from Bose that would be compatible with HD. I don't know where to start??? Thanks for any help.

Many Bose speakers have an internal amplifier (and microphone), which take ambient sound, and play it back in it's inverse.

Why this would necessitate new wire from Bose I don't know, but even if new wire is necessary, I don't think it would have to come from Bose...

Can you tell us what model receiver and DVD player you will be using? Also, can you tell us what model TV you are buying? Details are tremendously important.
Why did you ask what model TV he's buying?

TV speakers can sometimes be used as center channel speakers. If the OP wants, the TV audio can be integrated into the overall audio system. And besides, a more complete picture helps when we try to give advice sight-unseen.

I am buying a Sony XBR Bravia 2. I would love suggestions about a receiver and CD player to go with entire thing. As you can tell, I really know nothing. From what I have read, then I can get any wires to connect this all up?

Quality wiring definitely. I don't know if it must necessarily come from Bose, but it must be the proper guage.

And if the speakers do indeed have internal amps, as most Bose do, that will call for special wiring, and matched [power output] amplifier. You DON'T want to blow those amps in the speaker$$$, like I did in my '87 vette.

I thought you knew something about that TV, kenlee, that we didn't...:D
