and some of the objects I downloaded are still causing my game to crash! Can someone PLEASE tell me how to remove these objects from the purchase menu. I deleted them from the folder but their pictures(icons) are still on the purchase menu. Please tell me how to remove them because I really don't want to start the game over again.

I have WinXP, 1.8 GHz, service pack 2, 256 RAM and the problem is with Sims 1.............Thanks!

Thanks, because Maxis act like they don't know what I'm talking about but I've been looking for this solution all over the web and I'm not the only with this problem. Is there actually a soulution (deleting the objects from the buy menu?) or will I just have to begin the game over and not add those 'corrupt' files to the buy menu?

Ok, let me start off by saying, Maxis won't help you if you download objects, they feel like it's not there problem.

Anyways,
Are you sure you removed the objects from the folder? Make sure you check every folder, especially "Downloads" and "Game Data\Objects." Unfortunately, if that does not work, you may have to re-install and start from scratch.

It wont leave till you restart your game. Save and start again thats the only way they will leave from the buy menu. Trust me I know. Next time downloading stuff make sure you check the ex. pack needed for the item. Most places have it listed beside the item. Let me know if this helps

You dont have to reinstall. Just close the game and start again!

I had assumed he had already done that because he said it keeps making his game crash (as in it happened more than once) So he must have restarted the game in order for it to crash more than once.

Yes, I have restarted and it the objects still cause crashes. I will be sure to check the files before I download but only a small amount of the items cause crashes so I guess there is something wrong with those files.

I wasn't aware that Maxis could care less. Pity, I want to buy the latest Sims to add on but I don't think I like their attitude! I do enjoy the game though so why don't some of you techs start a similar but more exciting game (The Techs?) I would surely purchase it and it seems as though you have some characters on this site who would surely add more character to the Tech version! Oh please, think about it...? ;)

I think what Thuged is saying is to check in these 2 folders to verify that the object files are not still around. An object file wouldn't normally be in both folders, but I've gone and downloaded stuff before remembering I already had it, so it's definitely possible you could have a 2nd copy of the file laying around somewhere.

I think there _is_ a way to keep your sims and stuff even if you do have to reinstall, but I am not sure. I can look into it, tho.

One thing I'd like to clarify is how you know it's the downloaded objects that are causing your game to crash, just to be clear. Were you deleting stuff _before_ your game crashed?

Well see, if a certain house is causing the crash, sometimes you have to lost everything only because sometimes its hard to target the right house, because the file names are something like house001.

But I have similar problems with Sims 1, certain objects in a house will make the game crash. Make sure the object you deleted is no longer in the house. If it is then you will have to lose everything. Unless you can put the item back into the folder, delete it from the house, and then delete it from the folder. If that sounds a little confusing, just ask me to clarify.
