Oem Windows 98se

I wish to buy windows 98 the OEM is cheaper.EBAY sellers
ship with apparent NG hardware to satify EBAY and
MICROSOFT. I do not understand what does this accomplish.
Does microsoft not care if you buy retail or OEM because of
small sales of 98. I understand the differences between retail and OEM.
Any and all information appreciated.

Just a legal issue. OEM versions are licensed to be sold with hardware. The real intent is it is sold with a computer system (hardware) but, the agreement only says with hardware, not a computer. This is why anytime you buy an OEM version, you must buy some type of hardware.

Can it be any kind of hardware?? Screwdrivers, hinges, maybe a drill??!!

Hmmmm....

Just thinking, might be legal if you were to drill holes in the side panel of the case and put a hinge on it with the screwdriver. At that point the hinge becomes computer hardware......
