I have no Idea what the problem is.

I installed a new HD 2-3 days ago & have had no problems. Today my mouse kept freezing so I shut down. Came back an hour or so later & now I get " Unable to load msjter40.dll" But otherwise things seem to be operating normally.

Now What? -- Am running winxp, 1 30g. hd& one 80g.hd
pent4 2.4.....

Thanks Rockn. It seemed kind of odd that it came out of nowhere like that. I don't know much about these drivers, but I figured if I caused a problem installing my new HD it would have showed up in the last couple of days. I'll get in touch with E.Link

Hey guys.

E.link told me to Dl. This http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...e3-c795-4b7d-b037-185d0506396c&displaylang=en

I have twice ( deleted all & dl the second time) & both times it just says "has encountered problem... has to close. Now what?

Anyone know what I may have done to cause this? Some thind I aded that I can remove? Should I do a system restore. E.link doesn't seem to think it's their problem (of course). Any help will be highly appreciated! Really... a lot.

Note what the Overview says on the MS link you provided:

"This release does not include Microsoft Jet, the Microsoft Jet OLE DB Provider or ODBC driver, the Desktop Database ODBC Drivers, or the Visual FoxPro ODBC Driver."

If the driver is corrupted as suspected, this doesn't fix it. ODBC stands for "Microsoft Open Database Connectivity" which leds me to believe it is still Earthlink related. It may also be that the SQLSRV32.RLL (that is RLL, not DLL) file that accompanies the SQLSRV32.DLL. file is missing and needs to be installed off a Windows 2000 cd. I don't believe it's included in Windows XP.

Oh pooh. I'll go back to Earthlink. Maybe if I reinstall the latest version...? How do I get the Win 2000 cd? & How would I get this problem in the first place? (so I don't do it again.)

Ok Now when I click ok on the error box it brings up a box that says "select data source" & has File or Machine data sources to chose form. Anyone every seen this? "select the file data source you wish the driver to connect to..." I can post all of what it tells me to do if you think it will help. I have no clue.

1.Unable to load msjter40.dll

2.Driver's SQLAllocHandle on SQL_HANDLE_ENV failed

3. Fail data sourse- Select the file data source that you wish the driver to connect to. you can use any file data source that refers to an ODBC driver that is installed in your machine.
(OR) Machine data source- A machine data source is specific to this machine and cannot be shared "user" data sources are specific to a user on this machine. "System" data sources can be used by all users on this machine or by a system wide service.

The file data doesn't give me any choices, just a blank box to fill in (well it has a drop down box that has - my computer, doucuments, program files etc.). The Machine data one gives me -- dBase Files/ Excel Files/ (or) MS Access Database.

I have been able to get to my email from e.links home page, so the problem is not quite so bad. I thank you again! Lisa

Did you go to Start/Search/For Files or Folders and type in: SQLSRV32.RLL in the Search box and then hit the Search Now button? Did this driver show up in your files? If not it needs to be installed and isn't included in XP. It must be taken from a W2k cd or off the MS website.

No I had no clue about that ! I'll try it. Why would I need it now all of the sudden? I've had this about 8 months & never had a problem. The only thing major I've done is install the new HD, but I did that at least 2 days before I had any problems.- Any ideas?

& Thanks for the suggestion. I'll go try that now!

Well H***, I had a reply for you and I don't have any idea what happened to it! Maybe it got posted in someone elses thread! I'll hear about that! Okay: If the "SQLSRV32.RLL" is present, that is good. The majority of the time it is missing when you get that error. Let's go clear back BEFORE the beginning;

Did everything work okay before you installed the new hard drive (no mouse problems, no error messages ever)?

Did you reformat and install Win XP fresh or did you "overlay" it ( no reformat, no fresh install)?

Have you tried to do any Restores/Repairs using the Windows cd or "Use last Good Known Configuration" at startup?

Did you re-install Earthlink after the hard drive installation?

Are you using XP Home or Pro?

Do you have ALL the latest XP Updates?

Do you have "Windows XP Administration Tools" or similar listed anywhere?

What brand computer/model computer is this?

I won't be able to respond until sometime tomorrow, sorry!

I did a system restore to the day after I installed the new HD.
No I had 2 full days of the new HD with no problems. And had NO problems previous to that.
Yes to having all updates.
Yes I have Admin. tools listed in my control panel.
No I didn't reinstall ANYTHING after the HD install. (do I need to?)
The HD came with a cd that did all the installation for me- partioning and such.

If there is anything else you need to know just let me know.- Oh the day after this big prob.started when I powered on it went through a blue screen fix thing. It had Never done that before. Mentioned fixing & deleting a BUNCH of stuff. _ & No I didn't see exactly what it was. I had forgotten abot that.

Thanks again. Lisa
