I just got a new 100 GB Western Digital HD, and made one 2 GB FAT partition and one extended NTFS partition on the rest ~ 98 GB.

I installed WinNT4.0 without any trouble, and everything seemd to be working ok!

Then I started to copy files through the lan, from one of my old harddrives on another win98 computer, to the ntfs partiton on my new drive.

After about 20 GB it came up with an invalid filesystem error and would not copy any more files to the disk.

I tried to access the disk, but got the same error message.

I tried running scandisk, but just get the message that it couldnt run.

After attempting a reboot the whole partition was gone...and all that was left was my 2 gb c partition...

At that point I had to call it a night since I had work today, but I was thinkin of running partition magic to see if I could find the partition again when I get home again....dont know if Ill be able to salvage anything with it tho?

My system consists of an Amd K6-II 450, Aopen ax59pro, 128 MB Ram, WinNT4.0Server. The 100 GB Harddrive shows ok in the bios...

Would really appretiate som input on this as I have already moved 20 GB to the new harddrive, and I really dont want to loose these files. Hoping for any suggestions regarding what happened, why, what I can do, possible progs to try etc....

Thanx
