I recently bought a used gateway. I checked it out and the hardware is fine. There was no OS and no cd drive. With a little duct tape, bubble gum, and string (lol) I got windows 98se on it. After the initial installation I had sound. I installed the sound drivers, and still had sound. I installed the display drivers and lost sound. I'm not entirely sure if that is what is causing it. I uninstalled the display drivers, but still don't have sound. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Howdy Bastion...

From what it looks like it is a laptop...correct ?

Try reinstalling the sound drivers, after you install the video drivers...

Also...please post the make and model of the machine in question...

I've already tried that, but thanks for responding so quickly.
I'm running a gateway SX4 notebook.
The speakers are working but I'm not getting any sound. When I press the volume button on the keyboard, I hear a staticcy sound.
