Someone is selling me a Inspiration 9400 Dell Laptop, with Windows XP Pro on it.
However, the problem is that it is locked. It is not locked just by Windows, but by a program called Novell Client for Windows. I have tried booting through Safe Mode and Safe Mode with Networking but this program still comes up. How can I by-pass it? How can I disable and uninstall this program?

Well, the easiest way would be to reformat (safest way, too).

Another way is to log in to Windows (not Novell) as an admin user. You can use Add/Remove Programs to remove the Novell Client, but depending on how it is set up you may need the Novell admin password to remove it.

It sounds like an ex-business machine to me. Are you sure that this is a legit deal?

I have done just that (re-format). Whether the laptop is legit or not, I have no idea. I got the Restore CD, Drivers, Power supply and bag. I just couldn't log in to it because of Novell.

However, now there is nagging dual-boot screen. XP Home and XP Pro. It had XP Pro but I put Home. The original CD is Home and the sticker with the key on the back of the laptop is Home. How can I get rid of that Dual-boot screen, it's annoying.

Does selecting XP Pro do anything?

What you can try is checking your boot.ini file (Go to Start > Run... > Type in "msconfig" > BOOT.INI). Click on "Check All Boot Paths" and let us know what happens.

I have checked the boot.ini and it is showing both operating systems, XP Home and XP Pro. XP Pro won't load though. Only XP Home does. How can I delete it from the dual-boot screen?
