notepad.vbe and missing .dll file
Okay, please bear with me it's a bit of long story.I have Windows 8.1 Pro, and a couple of weeks ago I got a virus and apparently it took me too long to remove it because it gave me a couple of issues. First of all, whenever I start my computer I get the message along the lines of 'failed to load notepad.vbe, used in another process.' And while trying to install something, I got the message along the lines of 'missing .dll file, try reinstalling it then try again'. also Microsoft Office doesn't open properly. In attempts to fix it I tried a couple of tutorials including:
1- installing redistributable c++ 2017 and 2015 (both failed)
2 - the scannow command line -it found some issues but failed to repair-
3- the restore health command -it repaired the issues found by scannow-
4- booted to Safe mode and tried rstrui.exe but the last restore point was STILL after the virus hit so I couldn't use it
I'm not sure if all the steps I took even did anything to fix the problems. I'm not even sure whether the problems are related or not. So can anyone tell me if there is anything else that I can do to solve this? preferably without updating cuz my windows version is not genuine.
