Hi there,

I have an Acer Aspire 1683 WLMI laptop with a 60GB hard drive.

I'm considering upgrading the hard drive but want to know the maximum size that I can take.

Does anyone know what this is or how I might find out?

These are the system specs....

Processor: Intel Pentium M 735 / 1.7 GHz
Data Bus Speed: 400 MHz
Chipset Type Intel 855GME

Thanks in advance.

One thing you'll need to check though, is if its PATA or SATA drive. SOme new laptops are now shipping with SATA drives, like the one you linked too, but in your case you need a PATA IDE drive.

Like this one: http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/97629/rb/24103645135 - they refer to it as ATA 100.

Or any of the ones in this list: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/productlist.php?groupid=701&catid=14&sortby=nameAsc&subid=304&mfrid=

The 5400 RPM drives will be faster then the 4200 RPM drives but may drain the battery a little quicker.
