When I right click on my desktop and select properties to get the contrast rates of my video card and the lowest was 800 x 600 and the highest was 1600 x 1200. If I buy a 22" widescreen monitor it says the max resolution is 1680 x 1050, would I use 1600 X 1200 as it's correct settings?

thx

It won't look right. You want to be able to exactly match the vid card to the monitor default resolution if you want the best picture quality your LCD can provide and the correct aspect ratio.

You should note that 1680 x 1050 has an aspect ratio of 1.6, while your vid card's 1600 x 1200 is 1.33.

Check for driver updates, or buy a newer vid card, or buy a standard 19" LCD (1280 x 1024) which all cards seem to handle.

What vid card do you have?

Intel 82945g express chipset family is what it says under display adapters in device manager. Does that sound correct? If so, how can I tell if there are any updated drivers, please? driver date is 7/19/2005 and version is 6.14.10.4363. Is that the latest version of this card?

thx
