Not a problem, more a poser

I'll keep this as brief as I can. My daughter lives in Spain (Malaga). There was an airshow at the weekend and she emailed me with a link to her Google/Picasa page to see some photographs. However, clicking that link in Outlook Express gave me a Firefox "Server not found" message. Tried several times - same result.

Then compared her original email link with the one in FF, and spotted an extra "." in the FF one - ie "picasaweb..google.es" - which I removed and then the link worked. Out of curiosity, tried just copying and pasting the email link, same extra "." appears. Checked email message source, link was OK in there.

She sent me another email link late last night to the local newspaper's coverage of the airshow. This time, the extra "." appears in her email, right after the "www" bit - http://www..diariosur.es/20090906/malaga/mirada-puesta-cielo-20090906.html. Spotted it straightaway. Once again, the "message source" shows no error. She'd simply copied and pasted the newspaper link.

These emails were also copied to her mother, who gets her emails via her Yahoo web account, with exactly the same problem.

My daughter has her keyboard set up for Spanish normally but uses English to us, always has done, and we've never had this anomaly before. Frankly, I'm flummoxed - but it's not something I'm worried about. Unless, of course, that extra "." is a microdot containing the nastiest virus imaginable? ;-)
