i downloaded norted internet security 2007 after my previous norten internet security (2005 i think...?) expired.

The download process of Norton Internet Security 2007 and Norton SystemWorks Basic worked fine and i installed Norten internet security. After the installation i was prompted to restart my computer. Upon restart though the desktop screen flashes for a couple of seconds - not nearly long enough for programs to load - before i blue screen fills the screen saying that windows has been shut down to prevent any damage. The screen tells me to check my new installations etc and uninstall them and try again.

The only problem is, when i restart my computer this screen comes up every time so i cannot use my pc. The only way i can get on it is in safemode, and in safemode norton will not let me uninstall or access it in any way.

Can anybody help...?

Hi, jacmag :)

Try the removal tool from Symantec:
  1. Please download and save SymNRT.exe to your desktop.
  2. Close all programs and double click on the tool.
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions.
  4. Restart the computer if asked.
  5. Then delete the SymNRT.exe tool from your desktop.
  6. Open the Program Files folder on your local disk ( normally C: )
  7. Find and delete the following folders (if present):
    • Norton AntiVirus
    • Norton Internet Security
    • Norton SystemWorks
    • Norton Personal Firewall
