My computer has just started making a loud whurling/humming noise (last couple of days) - it is coming from the case and not the speakers. What can it be and how can I fix it please?
It has been running slow for a week now also (but not when turning pages on the internet) when running some software programmes
My computer is 3 years old.
I use windows XP/athlon 2100 processor/512kb memory.

Hopefully just a fan that is making noise. Open the case and blow it out with can of air [available at any computer store] After you blow out the case and fans, start the computer and see if you can see or feel what is making noise [if it still is noisy]

thank you - I will do that. Will it harm my computer if I continue to use it while it is noisy? as I wanted to use it tonight before going to the shop tomorrow for an air can.

Another thing I forgot to mention (sorry guys!) is that the noise is intermittant - it is now quiet again. Should I still get the can of air?
