Chalky,
My O/S is Windows ME. I am working on aSony Vaio Laptop. I have no sound (what so ever) in any video, applications, E-Mail etc. When ever I ahve tried, I get a"No sound Device can be located". Can you advise me. Thanks.

Go to their site and try their downloads section to see if you can manually download a sound driver for your particular brand / model number of laptop.

# Insert the Driver Recovery CD into the CD/DVD drive.
# In the Autoplay window, under Select an action to perform..., click the Cancel button.
# Click Start, point to Programs, point to Accessories, and click Windows Explorer.
# In the left pane, double-click the CDROM (G:) drive.
# In the right pane, double-click the Drivers folder.
# In the Windows Explorer window, in the right pane, double-click the audio folder.
# Double-click the SETUP.EXE icon.
# Follow the on-screen instructions.
# Remove the audio device from the Device Manager.
# Restart the computer.
