I keep getting the following message on my advent 4211c notebook and cannot repair the connection:- "Limited or no connectivity
You might not be able to access the internet or some network resources. This problem occured because the network did not assign a network address to he computer."
Running cmd>ipconfig/all the 802.11b/g mini card wireless adapter connection has the following results/;-
physical address: 00-21-85-B3-5D-BA

Do you have any suggestions for me to follow please? I have to warn you that I am not at all technical!

anything else connected to the wireless and working all OK
does it work OK when connected by cable to the router

IP addresses of all zeros are normally caused by one of the following.


  1. DHCP Service not running.
  2. Duplicate IP address on the network.
  3. Bad NIC card drivers.
  4. Defective NIC hardware.


  1. Check Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Services. The DHCP Client service should be Started and its Startup Type should be Automatic.
  2. Turn off ALL of the computers and other network connected devices, restart (power cycle) the router, then restart all the computers and other network devices.
  3. Check for upgraded drivers and/or reload the Network drivers.
  4. Replace the Network Interface Card.
{run Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector} Download and install
If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to copy the program across to the faulty PC

Then run and install the program
if you get an error - You need NET Framework installed for the WiFi Inspector to function.

post a screen shot of the program running - if there are a lot of networks showing can you click on "networks" top lefthand area - so we can see all the network information, and also post which network "Adapter Name" (1st column) is yours on the list

To post a screen shot of the active window, hold the Alt key and press the PrtScn key. Open the Windows PAINT application and Paste the screen shot. You can then use PAINT to trim to suit, and save it as a JPG format file.

You might try running the following two commands, from the command prompt, if you haven't already:

>ipconfig /release
>ipconfig /renew

Also, try disabling then re-enabling the Wireless adapter and, if you still aren't connecting properly, you could manually set up a new wireless network. I just had a laptop I was repairing for a client mysteriously drop off my network and, although it could see the network fine, it would not rejoin it, at all, until I deleted my wireless network from the list and set up a "new" connection. Then, it worked fine.

Sometimes you get lucky with the simple solutions. Good luck!
