Hi! I need serious help! I bought a New PC current specs
OS: Windows 10 USB
Motherboard: Gigabyte z370m
Cpu: i7 8700k
RAM: 16gb 2400mhz ram Kingston
Gpu: Aorus GTX 1080ti OC

The problem is that the gpu shows up as Microsoft basic display adapter and when I try to either update windows or download the drivers for the gpu I lose signal to my screen. I tried to use the hdmi above to what i think is connected to the motherboard which I believe used the cpu integrated graphics but has no signal as well regardless of whether drivers are install or not. I am clueless with what to do! Can anyone help?

Did your new computer come with a driver's DVD/CD? Try it.

Do you have access to another computer?

If so, bring a flash drive with you and download the drivers for your GPU card, from Gigabyte. Also,

For your monitor to loose signal like that it sounds like you could have an issue with the PSU (power supply unit). I know its a new pc. So I do not know why it should be drawing that much power unless there is a faulty ground in the PSU.

Also, what are the exact specifications, model number and brand name, please.

Is it stll under warranty? How old is your computer?

Thanks.

Cheers!

Please provide us with the following report. Is the external card setup. As the default in the bios?

http://filehippo.com/download_speccy

1. File > Save Snapshot. This will create a file called [hostname].speccy
2. File > Publish Snapshot. This saves your snapshot to our servers

I tried the dvd for the AOrus graphics driver but as soon as it reached around 11% it lost signal to my screen.

Okay so I'm downloading the drivers for Aorus geforce gtx 1080ti from the gigabyte website and will transfer and install them and see what happens. It goes to no signal after installing.

I have my desktop connect to my tv at the moment by a hdmi...

Windows 10 Home 64bit
Intel Core i7-8700K 3.7G 1151
Kingston 8GB D4-2400Mhz DIMM
Motherboard Gigabyte Z370M D3H CF
Graphics Aorus GeForce GTX 1080ti 1594/1708
Samsung 500GB 960EVO M.2 SSD
Seagate 2TB 3.5' SATA 7200Rpm
Power Supply Corsair RM650x 80+ Gold

I got it from ebay futu online said it was brand new so it should still have manufacturer warranty if it is actually brand new.

Not sure?
What is the make model and wattage of your power supply. Your
CPU CORE: 0.848 V is on the low side which can be an indication of a bad or not big enough power supply. If your bios has an option to show these values then please provide them here for the most accurate readings.

Also your gpu driver is out of date. Go,to the following link and yo7 should download ver 390.01. Make a restore point and install and see if it works or not.

https://www.geforce.com/drivers
Here is your manual and if you start at page 28 Bios. You will see a menu Initial Display Output to set the default gpu.

Okay that voltage looks better. Please run another speccy report after updating driver.

Updating the driver made it go to a black screen with no signal again.

DO you think updating the bios will help in any way? Thinking of trying to reinstall it myself but im a total newb ill have to learn and would be scared to try but id try it if it comes down to it. Also for the initial display output it is on pcie 1...there is igfx which just gives me a blank screen with no signal and also a pcie 2 which gives me a screen but i think its the nvidia card as it dies when i install the graphics driver
I would leave the bios alone for now unless there are any known issues that an update would fix. Usually you only want to update if you are having issues. Your gpu should be installed in pci-e 1 which is the default. Can you confirm which pci port by lok8mg st the motherboard layout on page 4 of the manual
Its hard to tell from lookit it from above it looks like it may be in the pciex16 unless the samsung ssd goes in a pcie slot..
No the SSD doesn’t go there. Is the hdmi connector for the card in the middle or to the end of your computer? What happens now when it is set to pci 1? Does the monitor work at all or ?
Its in the middle if you're talking about the hdmi port and upside down which is strange to me

Its in the middle and if i set it to either pcei 1 or 2 the screen works until the driver installation of course aha
Are you sure thst is the external card and not the one on the motherboard? It looks like if it is the card then the ports should be right next to the audio ports or at the very end of your computer? A picture of the back of your computer would be helpful if you don’t know for sure. Please answer last question. Sorry, but I have to get off for the night and can continue tomorrow.
