Hey all,

A friend of mine recently purchased a new laptop and asked if there was a way to transfer the data from his old one to the new one. I mentioned using a Jump drive since his old one didn't have a CD burner. Is there any other way?

Thanks,

Vince

Yes, a crossover cable and a simple network connection. The old machine must have an ethernet connection, the new one I'm sure has, then it's a simple (sometimes) matter of letting WinXP do the setup. XP's Firewalls can cause problems at times but it's actually pretty straightforward. A crossover cable is about $15.00.
