Hi,

Recently, a bunch of glitches appeared within many of my internet applications, like IE7 (some websites don't load, some plug-ins don't install), Firefox (After maybe 10 minutes of surfing, links/new pages will not load, and the firefox.exe process cannot be terminated by task manager. As a result, Windows cannot properly shut down, and about 50% of the cpu is used up.), utorrent and Ares (both often freeze/do not work). There are also a few other small glitches that I don't have off the top of my head.

I suspect that there is some malware on my computer, but I cannot find/remove it. I have CA Internet Security installed and its full scans turn up nothing. I have also tried AVG and Ad-Aware but it seems to also find nothing (that fixes the problem).

Can anyone help?

Thanks,

Mike

Just a few more symptoms: Flash player does not work in any browser, and IE cannot load Gmail (it goes on an infinite loop between two pages).

Also, if I'm in the wrong sub-forum, could someone let me know?

Thanks.

I apologize for the continual bumping, but if someone tells me that I am posting in the wrong forum, or that my problem cannot be solved, I will stop.

I am experienceing the exact same issues.

For me, this started 5 days ago when I installed CA Internet Security Suite v3.2.0.1.

Today, I disabled the CA firewall and enabled the Widows firewall. So far, all day with no lockups.....

Now, to see if I can get CA to bite on this.

I think you're right. I should have realized it earlier; disabling CA firewall cures everything, as far as I can tell. However, I can't find a way to turn it on without having the symptoms again. you can manually have CA enable/disable specific features for each webpage, but these usually add up to the hundreds quickly, so I can't really keep up with it.

A second PC in the house developed the same Firefox lockup. This machine was fixed instantly by disabling CA firewall.

My PC locked up again. I found that I still had the "Load CA Personal Firewall at Startup" checked in the options menu. That is now fixed.

I had to look for a while on the CA site to find a way to even notify them, they hide the contact link quite well. I emailed CA about this issue on 11/5/07 and got an automatically generated incident number. However, they have yet to indicate if they actually care or not, they have yet to reply with a follow up message and have not replied to my follow up requests. They also make it near impossible to find out if they have actually posted a fix, and its not like I am going to enable the dang thing to check it out constantly.

I am VERY not impressed with this apparent lack of support. Would I get more attention if I asked for a refund? Or should I post spend the time to generate a blizzard of new contact numbers and start posting like crazy? I have already waived two friends off who were ready to install version 2007. Happily, there are other options, so we all do not need to send money to them in the future.

Well, my version of CA was free with all of the promotional rebates, but regardless, this various problems seem like a fairly serious issue. If you give me the email, I'll send a message too, and hopefully after a number of related reports they will take notice.
