Well, just up until recently I've had a functional network between my two home computers. However, I also, just as recently, started fiddling with stuff and now it no longer works. I think the problem is that on this computer (the functional one, as in the one I'm typing this message on, which happens to also run Windows XP) when I go to the Control Panel->Network Connections and then check the status of the network bridge, the address type is assigned by DHCP. On the other computer (the offline one) the address type is Automatic Private Address, and the IP/Subnet Mask are different and the Default Gateway has nothing on it. Now, I have looked all around for a way to change those settings but have not been successful. Could anyone please tell me how to change these settings, as it would be most excellent.

They're both running Windows XP (though the other computer also runs Slackware), and I have no idea about that second question (me == networking newbie). At one point last night, I was able to get online on the other computer when running Slackware, but that was only when this computer was also on. However, I tried doing that earlier today to no avail. I've run netconfig, but that doesn't seem to help.
