Hello-
Our ISP has random outages that requires our router to be reset, unfortunately, we are only notified by the outage by our irate users. We began using Spinner in our office to alert us if our connection goes down, but Spinner is an unauthorized program and we're being pressured to get it taken off. Is there any type of freeware/shareware that would alert us when our connection drops? I was thinking of some type of script that would ping an external address and play a sound if the ping is unsuccessful. I know this can be done in Unix, but we don't have a Unix box up yet

any help would be greatly appreciated!

matt

i have done this (searched google) and have found applications that are way too much overkill, i'm looking for something much more simple. As i said, something that would just ping an external address and let me know (possibly via wav file) when it does not respond.

thank you-
matt

If they're free, and they work, what's the problem?
