Hi,

I did a network test with Passmarks Performancetest. I'm running a 10/100 network with all devices connecting at 100Mb. On Performancetest there are 2 tests to run for Network speed, TCP and UDP.

The TCP speed test came back with an average 62000kbps (7.5Mb), and the UDP was 89000kbps (10.8Mb).

As I'm running a 100mb network, shouldn't the results of been higher?

The 100Mb refers to your local area connection (LAN) within the house/router/another computer etc but the TCP speed test is the speed of the internet connection and that`s set by what your ISP offers and what wiring the line supplier has running in your street at the time.

I`m not sure how it is in the C.I. but on the mainland UK, 7.5mbps is not too bad for a standard connection so unless you`ve got cable, everything seems to be okay.

Thanks Jenny, I should of explained better. This was a test on an internal network between 2 PC's.

You basically setup one PC as a server and the other as a client which send the data and then the speed is measured by that.
