i am currently going mad with netster....cant seem to remove it. have downloaded and ran 3 seperate spyware programs (ad-aware, spybot, and spysweeper).....was also stupid enuff to pay for noadware software that did nothing!
they all seem to recognize it. i see netster cookies and other things containing the word 'netster' in the scan results, have instructed the program to remove them, it says they are removed..yet when i go to either of my internet explorer or rogers yahoo browsers and type in the website i want, i continually get this browser showing up....i am going mad with this....i just purchased my dell dimension 4700, windows xp home o/s , and i am extremely perplexed.how can i fix this? and how can i prevent it from happening again without subscribing to 5 different security programs? and how did i get this in the first place,,any help guys would be much appreciated

Additionally, I have a couple of suggestions.

First of all, when you ran Spybot and AdAware SE, did you first download the latest updates/definitions for each of them before running a scan of your computer? If not, I'd suggest you do that.

I would also suggest, (if the above doesn't help), try running both of these programs in Safe Mode.

Also I would suggest going to www.javacoolsofware.com and downloading SpywareBlaster (also free), and install, update and run it, using it to enable protection against all kinds of bad things on the net.

Welcome to TSG!

Please do this:

First create a permanent folder somewhere like in My Documents and name it Hijack This.

Now Click here to download Hijack This. Download it and click "Save". Save it to the Hijack This folder you just created.

Click on Hijackthis.exe to launch the program. Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and then ask you to save the log. Click "Save" to save the log file and then the log will open in notepad.

Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" then Paste the log back here in a reply.

DO NOT have Hijack This fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

i lft. click on website link you gave me.
i get prompted to open or save file
i hit save
it gets saved as deldomains in hijack this folder
then i click on file menu and select install
it prompts me again if i want to open file
i say yes
nothing happens

When you say "i continually get this browser showing up", what exactly do you mean? Does it not take you to the page you are looking for?

i currently use rogers cable yahoo browser

it will bring me to my homepage on startup.

however, when i type in an address to go to , it brings me to this netster browser, regardless of where i tell it to go.........

also, in my 'internet options..' section under the 'general' tab i am not able to alter my homepage it is greyed out!

furthermore, in my temporary files folder, where i am given the option to delete temporary files and cookies (also under the General tab), if i choose to do this it says that i have logged off of the internet and it is going to shut down........

Did you run Hijackthis while online? Please do that while you are on line and post that log. Do you have anything in the Ignore section? open hijackthis and click the config button. Then click the ignorelist button and see whatm if anything is on that list.
