Ok, here goes. A couple of times MY PC internet would stop working, after a few restarts and "miracles", the lights would come flash on the connection in my PC. This time, its stopped and has not worked in a few days. It is a direct connect to my router. My wife's computer, which is direct connect to the same router, works perfectly fine. I switched out cables, switched out to different lines on the router (has 4 connections), and still nothing. I connected my laptop direct connect AND wireless, and nothing. And my wife's connection still works on her computer. Thing is I am getting 2 different errors.

PC : "Network Cable is unplugged"

Laptop : "Local Access Only (No internet)"

Also on my PC when I load it up, it will sometimes freeze on the "Welcome" screen, or it will pass the Welcome screen and freeze with no items on the desktop. I have done virus scans with AVG and Malwarebytes and no infections are present.

My PC is Windows XP
3070MB RAM
AMD Athlon X2 250 Processor 3.0 GHz
Nvidia Geforce GTX 460
LAPTOP:

Machine name: PANZERCHRIST-PC
Operating System: Windows Vista™ Home Premium (6.0, Build 6001) Service Pack 1 (6001.vistasp1_gdr.100608-0458)
Language: English (Regional Setting: English)
System Manufacturer: Hewlett-Packard
System Model: HP G60 Notebook PC
BIOS: Default System BIOS
Processor: Pentium(R) Dual-Core CPU T4200 @ 2.00GHz (2 CPUs), ~2.0GHz
Memory: 3002MB RAM
Page File: 2112MB used, 4113MB available
Windows Dir: C:\Windows
DirectX Version: DirectX 10
DX Setup Parameters: Not found
DxDiag Version: 6.00.6001.18000 32bit Unicode
Main problem is the PC, however Laptop is still spitting out the "local only" errors in direct connect AND wireless. Any more information you need I will supply.

I also checked ipconfig on my PC and I am getting a "media disconnected" message"

just to confirm
you have three machines
1 = PC
2 = LAptop
3 = Wifes PC

only your wifes PC works - is that correct

Make and model of the router
post an ipconfig /all from your wifes PC - make sure you label it so we can identify it

then also post the laptop and PC ipconfig /all

------------------------------------------------------------------------
{ipconfig /all}
If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to paste the results into something like notepad and then copy onto a machine that can access the internet and post results here
We would like to see the results from ipconfig /all post back the results here
-> Start
-> (XP - enter the following in the RUN box)
cmd /k ipconfig /all
-> (Vista or Windows 7 - enter the following in the Search box)
cmd /k ipconfig /all

A black box will appear on the screen -
rightclick in the box
select all
enter
control key + C key - to copy

then reply here and
control key + V to paste
------------------------------------------------------------------------
