nero burning wrong files

Last week when I burned my mpg movie files with nero, vcd format, it went great. This week, instead of the movie file being burned, all these other folders and files were burned instead. It is a list of about 5 folders you see in the video1 screen that comes up after the wizard (ext, mpeg, vcd, etc.) I'm sure I'm doing everything exactly the same way as last week, dragging the movie file from the browser after the wizard...hitting the burn button. I'm obviously new to nero. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Howdy there numcrunch...

Are the folders that you see named CDI, EXT, MPEGAV, SEGMENT, VDC ?

If so...that is normal, the video is stored under the MPEGAV folder with a .dat extension...
Thanks.

So if the movie file is now a .dat file instead of an mpg file, will it still play in my dvd player?

Last week when I burned movies, the file was an .mpg with nothing else on the disk and it worked.
Should it work's in mine...
Hmm...so I tried to run that .dat file on the computer through windows media player (I'm not at home right now) and got the error that it is either a currupted file or windows media player does not recognize the file format (or something to that extent). Any other pearls of wisdom you could throw my way? Thanks for the help, btw.

Thank you, Jedi_Master. I took the disk home to try out on the dvd player, and it worked. I just thought it strange to have done the same process (or so I thought) and end up with two different files types for movies. Only bummer with the .dat file is you can't play it on the computer (if I ever wanted to). Or is that not correct either?
Actually Media player v8.0 will play it, just browse to the MPEGAV folder and open it with Media player ( just be sure that "Always use this program to open these type of files" isn't checked )...
I'm sorry...I'm wrong, I just opened one in Media Player v6.4.07.1121 with W98...
