I'm about to start with my career in the writing field. I will have a lot of typing and research work. Need some advice on what configuration I should prefer in the laptop. My budget is $1500. I have shortlisted few options you can give your opinion on it, also please suggest if you find some better options.

Lenovo ThinkPad X1
  • Intel Core i7-6500 processor
  • 8GB RAM
  • 256GB SSD
  • 14inch display
  • Intel HD graphics 520
HP Notebook
  • Intel Core i5 processor
  • Intel HD graphics 620
  • 15.6 inches display
  • 8GB RAM
  • 1TB HDD
Thank you

The laptops you have mentioned vary greatly in terms of price. The laptops also have different processors. According to me for writing purpose you do not require a laptop with Intel Core i7 processor (also costs more). Rather buy a laptop with Intel Core i5 processor, but with SSD storage. You do not require any discrete graphics, integrated graphics will carry you far. Also, you can refer this source for more options: https://theconsumerbasket.com/best-laptop-for-writers/

Thanks for the suggestion. I need to clarify one more thing, should I buy the laptop with a backlit keyboard.

It would be great if you choose to buy one with a backlit keyboard, as it would eliminate the restrictions of working in dark. You can type easily even without light. You must go with it.
Thanks
