I have a old Sony vaio xp I deleted the AOL 8 but didn't get rid of the short cut and i need to into it so I can download windows 10 please help me if you can thanks for you support.

welcome to the forum

please go into safe mode and use system restore to go back to an earlier date when all was ok. see link for info on guide to safe mode for sony xp, if needed:

I don't think you will be able to download Windows 10 from a computer running XP.

You might have to get someone running Window 7 or 8.1 to download it.

You can't upgrade for free from Windows XP to Windows 10, it's a paid upgrade. And if the computer is that old it probably can't run Windows 10 properly or at all.

The method to get into Safe Mode was provided to you in the first post by Bobs-here, there is a link there that you can follow to find out how to get into Safe Mode for Windows XP on your Sony computer.
