thinking about upgrading from win ME to XP - currently have 128 RAM and i'm wondering if i need to add more RAM. i've read that 128 is enough and they don't have significant slowdowns but some have said that 128 is not enough. i use the system for basic stuff - internet browsing, word, excel, etc. any ideas? thanks!

Depends on what you want to do. As cheap as memory is, it is by far the most cost effective and perfomance boosting upgrade you can do next to a CPU upgrade.

128 is not enough for XP. Go with 256 minimum and when XP is installed , post again in regards to " services running in XP " and someone will help you with the running services you don`t need that XP is famous for .............good luck.:)

I wouldn't even consider buying a 128MB stick today unless thats the most thats supported by your motherboard. Get at least 256MB or more, especially when it comes to Windows XP.

You can use www.crucial.com to give you an idea off what kind of RAM you need.
