hi everyone
i have a hp laptop win me 2000 dvd player ok to play movie, then i just install a new win xp now put moive in to play seem that the dvd software is gone could not play the movie, only have pop up media player but could not play dvd movie can you help me to solve this problem. thanks

You can do one of two things:

1)Re-install the correct drivers for your DVD or:

2)Install a codec pack to allow Windows Media Player to play DVD's

Personally, I would do both.

hmm .. try these things .. (if DVD drive is working properly) ..
Go to windows update and get the latest media player and then reconnect and get the security update.
while connected online place DVD in drive .. tell it to play with windows media player .. it should go get the codecs needed to play and hopefully you'll be enjoying your movie.
if it doesn't auto play then right click and say open with windows media.

One of our own members has put together a codec/filter package that should allow WMP to play VCD's, SVCD's, and DVD's.

Hi guys i thanks for your responde, but i still unable to make the dvd work yet. I still have the system recovery disks with window me 2000, i try just to install the driver for dvd only but somehow that i unable to do that, in the disk i seen driver files but couldnot run it and am not sure how to do that so i need your help again. thanks. I also try others but still unable to make media player to work for dvd. help!!!!!
