I have an opportunity to pick up a used mobo for one of my second hand computers and it's a Medion (made by MSI) MS-6719 also known as a MD6719. Trouble is, Medion will not support any of there components period. I've been in contact with them and they flat out told me that if I have any trouble use the restore disk. I told them that the person I'm buying it from doesn't have one but they are not budging. (What a bunch of pricks......)

Anyway, from what I have found goggleing this thing for an hour is the mobo was used on two systems, the MD1567 and the MD1620. Also, one site lists a String of:

04/10/2003-SiS-651-6A6IXM4FC-00
W6719M7 V1.15 033103 13:20:00 MEDIONPC

Which is greek to me !

If any of you sleuths out there can help me track down any documentation or help me with the string I'd be forever grateful !

Merry Christmas to all of you too !

I understand your plight well--been there many times. My take on it is that MSI made this board for a third-party company and they expect you to get your support from them. If you can identify that company, you might be able to get a replacement disk from them for a nominal fee.

If you cannot identify that company, you could be in for a hard row to hoe. I have run into situations like that where I never did find drivers. Example: On one board, after days of searching and loading around 30 drivers, I finally gave up on the sound, disabled the on-board sound and inserted an add-in sound card.

I've beaten my head against the wall so many times with this same situation, I would not pay even one cent for a board like that. It just isn't worth the anguish.

That's my conclusion too. It's a shame though, that they choose to go this route. It really dumps the end user.

I was hoping that someone would see the name "Medion" in the post and come to my rescue !!!!

:) I did a little research. It appears that the board you are referring to is Medion mobo # MD6719 manufactured for Medion by MSI and used in model MD1567 and MD1620 Medion Computer Systems. The mobo part number assigned to Medion by MSI is MS6719.

Here's the tricky part. Based on the BIOS string that you posted, the REAL MSI mobo # is actually MS-6533XG. As you can see, it uses a SIS-651 chipset which is the same as identified in the BIOS string.

I can't be 100% certain this is the correct information you need, but it appears to be.:D

HERE is another link that you might find useful. One way to futher narrow down whether or not the MS-6533XG is the same board is to visually compare the board with the picture in the link and more importantly, look at the mobo and see if the chipset is indeed a SIS-651. If it is, then there's a high probability that the 6533XG is actually what you have.

Good luck.

I'm a sucker for punishment ! The guy that was going to sell me the board lowered his price so I just have to give it a try !

Thanks for all the info but I do have one question kilowatt1- what/how does the BIOS string identify the MSI MS-6533XG ? I checked pictures of both of them and they don't look the same.

I see the same mobo is used in the PowerPlus 2880 with a string of:

04/10/2003-SiS-651-6A6IXM4GC-00 W6719M7 V2.07 041003 16:22:00 MEDIONPC

Now if only I could track down a manual.....

:) Sorry for the confusion. What I should have said is that the MS-6719 apparently uses the same "engine" (chipsets, etc.) as the MS-6533XG. If you click on the specs for the 6533XG, you see that it says that the picture is for reference only and not of the actual mobo. My guess is that most, if not all, of the drivers listed for the 6533XG will work for the 6719. I suggest that you download the manual as it may enable you to gleen enough information from it to get the board up and running.

Good luck.

No problem ! I appreciate any help I can get with this one !

I picked it up today along with a Pentium 4 1.8 for $ 30.00. The mobo is brand new. His girlfriend used to work for a tech support outfit that subbed out to BB. She went to do a board replacement and al it needed was a restore or something.

The first problem I had tonight trying to put it together on the bench was the CPU heatsink/fan bracket wouldn't fit the stock cooler. Naturally, I don't have one laying around so I need to check with one of the local shops in the morning. I hope this isn't a sign of things to come !

Thanks again !
