'Ndetect' error message

My operating system is 'Windows 98 2nd edition', and I have Norton antivirus installed. When I boot my computer an error window appears with the title: 'Ndetect'. The message that follows is: 'This program has performed an illegal operation and will shut down. If the problem persists contact the program vendor.'
The details of the error are as follows: 'Indetect caused an invalid page fault in module OLEAUT32.DLL at 018F:653ba65c, etc'.

This only occurs when I boot up my computer and once I delete the message the computer operates without any problems. Any ideas what is causing this? How can I correct it?

A good start would be to find out which NDETECT is causing the problem.... ndetect is used by both Norton for Live Update and also by ICQ....This may be a good start How to Perform Clean-Boot Troubleshooting for Windows 98 [Q192926]
