So I want to upgrade to: 1GB of memory from my 256MB.

I was wondering if I could upgrade to....

Samsung

1GB (1024mb) PC2100 NonECC UNBUFFERED DDR for 845, 266, 333, 533 Chipsets.
DDR PC2100 1GB UNBUFFERED(will work w/ all 845, 266, 333, 533 based mboards Lifetime Warranty.

MY system info is below and I think it will work cause my board is an 845..I just wanted to confirm with another.

as long as the board supports the amount of ram you are choosing along with ECC, you may be limited to size per slot.
good luck and enjoy.
PS wish I had Intel, although my AMD is steady crankin.

How do I check if my board can support that much ram? And are there certain problems I can incur with that much ram?
The Intel® Desktop Board D845GLAD delivers integrated Intel® Extreme Graphics with essential features that support Intel®Pentium® 4 and Intel® Celeron® processors with 400-MHz system bus in the mPGA478-pin package. Featuring the Intel® 845GL chipset with support for up to 2GB of DDR266 or DDR200 SDRAM memory, four PCI slots, Hi-Speed USB 2.0, and optional integrated LAN, this board delivers remarkable value and flexibility.

From Intels website your board should work fine if you require more info try http//www.tomshardware.com
good luck Sketchman
