Just the other day I accidently clicked on a pop up and downloaded something I shouldn't have. My computer hasn't been the same since. A few of my most important programs are hanging up before they even open. And a few other odd errors here and there.

I ran Adaware, Spybot and did a full System check on Norton Antivirus.

Here is my Hijack this log:

I'm surprised that Ad-Aware didn't clean out some of the stuff that it's the log. Do you have the latest build 6.181 and did you load the latest reference file that starts with 01R287? If not, please do so and run it again and delete everything it finds.

Then post another log please.

Hi Cookie,

Thanks for the quick reply. I have the latest build and reference file you mentioned. Only 3 tracing cookies came up with Adaware and they were deleted. Here is the new log:

O.K. I see a few problems in there so I will request that this thread be moved over to Security and I'm sure someone will be able to analyze the log for you and advise.

First go to Add/Remove programs and uninstall Virtual Bouncer.

Run Hijack This again and put a check by these. Close all windows except HijackThis and click "Fix checked"

Restart to safe mode.

How to start your computer in safe mode

First in safe mode click on My Computer. Go to Tools > Folder Options. Click on the View tab and make sure that "Show hidden files and folders" is checked. Also uncheck "Hide protected operating system files" and "Hide extensions for known file types" . Now click "Apply to all folders"
Click "Apply" then "OK"

Now find and delete:

The C:\Program Files\VBouncer folder
The C:\Program Files\Common Files\slmss folder
The C:\WINDOWS\mwsvm.exe file
The C:\WINDOWS\fash.exe file
The C:\WINDOWS\System32\bendgdmu.exe file

flrman1, thanks a million for your help. Now everything is working smoothly.

I have an unrelated problem, that has been occuring for weeks. Let me know if I should repost it in another thread.

When I boot up, I get a blue screen saying

Checking the file System : C.
The type of file system is NTFS.
One of your disks needs to be checked for consistency.

I always hit a button to skip the checking, because I don't know what it is. Would anyone happen to know what it is, and if I should let it check the System C?

You're Welcome.

That is your machine running chkdsk. Have you tried letting chkdsk complete the scan and then see if it re-occurs on the next restart? The next time you restart let it complete the scan then restart again and see if it trys to run again.
