My computer turned black with a screeching sound

I was playing a game, on my desktop which I build few years ago, when all of the sudden the screen went all black with only some distorted lines in the middle and made this non stop loud noise in my headphones. and so I forced a shutdown. After that I tried to switch it back on and while it does power on , the screen does not show anything. I cant even get to the bios screen.Things I have tried : I turned on and off my pc three time as instructed, but it made no difference I tried listening to any beeps or any unusual noise from my pc, but didn't hear anything. The lights on motherboard are working, all fans are spinning, including cpu fan and video card fans. Monitor light is working and when i switch it on and off it says Asus as usual .But then it also says no signal on mini display port. I also tried switch to HDMI cable , with no difference. My motherboard has an intergraded video card apart from my dedicated video card , so if it was a dedicated gpu problem at least intergraded video card should work right. Please give any suggestions to what the problem this may be . Is it software or hardware issue and if you have any solutions please

According to this article, Its possible the fan caused the screeching sound, possibly too much dust or something is loose. In very rare cases bios updates done from within windows, which is a very bad idea can cause the motherboard and bios not to regulate the fan properly.
Only after I restarted the pc, the sound is gone , but the screen is just black. And I have cleaned my pc from dust only just month ago and plus I have see through case window so I can see whats going on inside and the fans look fine
Also I just noticed that my mouse and keyboard also dont light up like they usually do ,when I switch on the computer
The exact description of the motherboard would be helpful to the hardware diagnostic experts here.

That also applies to the processor, graphics card, RAM, storage drive(s), power supply, etc..

If the loud screeching noise was in the headphones, it is not particularly likely it was mechanical, as in fan noise.

Not unless you remove the GPU adapter card. The integrated video is disabled when an external card is installed. It is also dependent on having a CPU that has built in graphics.

My first guess is a power supply, but that's just a gut reaction.

You need to post ALL of the exact system specs. Exact means just that; brand and model# for each component.
My motherboard has an intergraded video card
On all modern systems, the motherboard does not have video. The video ports you see are for onchip video which is part of the processor and not the motherboard. Whether or not you get video out of the motherboard port is determined by which processor you have. Most intels have on chip video however many AMDs do not. Again, since we have no idea what hardware you are running, it is impossible to tell you IF you will get video out of the motherboard port.
Thank you everyone for your suggestions I will try them out soon ,and here is the specs of my current pc:

Intel Core i7-6700K 4 GHz Quad-Core Processor
Noctua NH-U14S 82.52 CFM CPU Cooler
Asus Z170 PRO GAMING ATX LGA1151 Motherboard
G.Skill Ripjaws V 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-2133 CL15 Memory
Western Digital WD_BLACK 1 TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
Samsung 850 Evo 250 GB 2.5" Solid State Drive
EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 8 GB FTW GAMING ACX 3.0 Video Card
Phanteks Enthoo Pro M ATX Mid Tower Case
EVGA SuperNOVA 650 650 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply
Asus MG279Q 27.0" 2560x1440 144 Hz Monitor
OK, you will get video out of the motherboard port IF you physically remove any real video card.
Next there is a guide at the top of the hardware forum for troubleshooting your system. If you follow every step, you will find the cause of your problem.
Do understand that your hardware is now 7yr old and (generally) it is not cost effective to repair that old of hardware. About the only part I would invest in would be a pw supply since that can be used in a new build.

I had symptoms similar to the OP which I found out was caused by my power supply. The problem went away after I replaced it. Do you think this could be the OPs problem also?

BTW, my faulty power supply was a 5 year old Corsair RM750i. I pulled a 10 year old Antec TPII-650 from another computer to prove the Corsair was at fault. Fortunately, the power supply was still under warranty and got it replaced at no cost.
Sure, it is possible a failed pw supply is causing the problem. A pw supply is about the only component I would purchase since his hardware is pretty old. At least a new pw supply can be used in a new build.
Hi so I went through the guide, took out the cmos battery to reset bios, reinstalled psu cables , removed all extra peripherals, video card, hard drives and did all the steps listed for non posting pc. And the computer screen is still black. So I am guessing this is most likely power supply or motherboard. Unfortunately I do not have a spare power supply , no anyone I could borrow one from .So have to figure out how to test them
Decided to buy a psu replacement, will get back once Its here and I install

Hello again, so I have installed the new psu , but the computer still doesnt show anything, so I am guessing in my case it wasnt psu. SO I am guessing its motherboard? But I am also wondering if it could be cpu ?(every other component is removed as instructed.I have also tested my monitor,keyboard with my latop and they work fine, but dont work with this pc) . I am not sure how to test them or if I should just now buy new motherboard, Please advise;;
Usually the last thing that might go wrong with a PC is the CPU itself. They are typically almost bulletproof. Not that they can't fail, but the rarely do. It is 9:1 motherboard over CPU. Maybe higher.
Unless you physically damage a processor while installing OR you overclock/overvolt it, the processor is pretty hard to hurt.
As I already posted, repairing hardware of this age is not cost effective. You have a new pw supply that can be used in a new build.

You have to decide IF you want to invest money in 7yr old hardware OR simply build a new system.
I just did a quick check on newegg and there are motherboards available however the prices and or shipping cost is beyond ridiculous. Between $200 and over $300 for a new board. There were some used boards for approx $180 however those are also VERY overpriced.
You might find a used board on ebay however buying used parts on ebay is really taking a chance.

If you REALLY want to fix this system, then take it to a shop and have them diagnose the problem for you. Again, I would NOT do this.
I do realise that repairing hardware is not vaible and I dont mind buying a new motherboard if it will fix the problem , I just want to be sure its mobo thats the problem.
One other thing I have discovered : my mother board has Qled status function , and it shows a red dot next to dram indicating a problem , but I tried running with only 1 ram and swapping the two ram , but the light still stays on.
Could it be that both of my ram failed at the same time and thats why swapping them doesnt work?

The Qled status video I watched suggeststhats Dram light could indicate cpu problem but there is no red light next to cpu thats on constantly. Or could it be that I need to replace thermal paste on cpu ?Only I didnt have any problems with temperatures so i didnt consider it
also the fact that those lights on my mobo still work ,could it indicate that its not my motherboard thats broken?
also could it falsely show that the problem is Dram even though is motherboard itself thats broken?
I also read that maybe I need to replace cmos battery is it worth trying?

I want to test if my problem is my ram , so I bought new ram. But I am worried if the problem is not my ram but my motherboard and I insert new ram into falty motherboard is there a chance the bad mobo can damage my new ram?
As Someone suggsted it could be that my motherboard slots have gone bad and thats why both ram sticks show dram error on the Qled status on my motherboard. Should I buy new motherboard and not test new ram on current motherboard instead? Please advise
