My printer has stopped printing text, it used to work just fine I am not sure what I did?? When I print a test page it only prints a "Windows printer test page" message in blue and a blue printer image but no test. It does print photos just fine. It is connected to my Dell laptop(Inspiron 15 5000 series) via USB cable. I am using Windows 10.
Thanks.

Hi, mlw1122, and welcome to TSG.

Run a Nozzle Check test. It sounds like the printer may have a problem printing using Pigment Black Ink.

EDIT: You can run the Nozzle Check from the maintenance menu on the printer itself. This should eliminate any issues with software or drivers on the computer.

I had already done that with no luck. I just replaced both black ink cartridges even though they were not empty. When I run maintenance on the printer and print a color test page it prints everything except black. So strange.

I believe that black pigment ink is used for printing solid black things like black text. The other black ink is used when printing things that include shades of gray. Try printing some red text and see if it prints OK.

You most likely either have a failed or badly clogged Black Pigment printhead. You could try doing a settings reset as described in the link below and then turn off and unplug the printer for a while. Then turn it on and try a nozzle check. It may be possible that some internal setting is causing the problem and it would not hurt to see if a reset clears it up.

thanks for the help. I did print text in red and it worked fine. I reset all settings following the instructions you sent. I turned off and unplugged the printer for a while. When I do a nozzle check it still is not printing the PGBK pattern so seems like that is the problem. I ran a nozzle deep clean but that did not resolve it. My question now is there a way to manually clean the print head nozzle?
