Hello People,
I need help bad. I jsut put together a system. It's my first time. I have a P4 3.2 Ghz on an Intel 800FSB 875 chipset board with a ATI Radeon 9800 128MB card. I have 512 MB RAM and a 80GB SATA harddrive.

A few things are not going right:
1) I have a 7-in-1 reader drive for my floppy. It won't power up. I've tried the 4 pin connector from the power supply and the USB adapter they provided. No good.
2) I keep getting a message saying system temp too hot. I have tried to make as much space as possible in my mid size case. I got the mesage at 102F.
3) Each time I try to do a shut down, I get a message saying
Rundll32.exe not responding. End now or Cancel."
4) Each time I boot up, I get a message saying ATI drivers not loaded. But I am able to run programs fine that need the card and my monitor settings are good.
Could this have something to do with my BIOS settings? I have no idea what I am supposed to set them to.
Please Help. I am so lost.

That's not too hot. If it were Celsius you'd have a fire but that computes to about 39C which is fine so the only thing I can gather is you have a setting for heat warning that is too low.

PS: Where is this message generating from, an add on app such as MBM? or the board's monitor? A nice average temp for the system would be around 86 to 90 F.

OK, now this

Each time I boot up, I get a message saying ATI drivers not loaded. But I am able to run programs fine that need the card and my monitor settings are good.

I haven't looked at the board's specs but my hunch would be that you have on-board video that is actually running your machine's video.

Go to Display properties / settings / advanced / Adapter and see if it says something like Intel(R) 82845G instead of ATI. You can also view that and see if there is a conflict in Device Manager under Hardware / Display adapters. Do you know how to get there and check for errors?

As to your BIOS settings you may have to disable the on-board video but for now let's see what's actually running.

Don't worry, we all here will find the problems. I prefer to get rid of the possible hardware and driver issues first then deal with the possible software issues.

2)The display properties setting does show ATI Radeon 9800. That's what is confusing me. The card is running fine. But I still keep getting that error.

1) This link http://www.yedata.com/products/cardreaders/internal7-in-1.shtml gives a desc of the 7-in-1 reader. I looked at the site. I'm afraid I don't know anything about those. Never seen one. It's possible by the way that your rundll32 is either caused by drivers not loading for the vid card or this thing but try what I wrote for that first.

This may be a spyware situation which would be the easiest way to fix it so if you haven't got it, download AdAware from here, get the latest signature files and then run it. http://www.tucows.com/preview/236049.html It's faster to download here because the home site's slow as molasses to load sometimes.

If that doesn't work we'll have to start with the elimination of software or drivers causing it.
