Hi all,

Apologies if this is in the wrong section, but it's relating to my OS security at the end of the day.

I've been given a megaupload account by a friend-of-a-friend cos he's not using it anymore.
I'm not too sure about such accounts and passing from one person to another.

Are there any risks to my computer and will he know what I've downloaded for example?
A bit worried as I'm a little paranoid in nature (cautious I call it!) and I don't know that guy well

Many thanks for any info

well, one, you should be more worried about spyware, as megaupload has a history of that.

and two, it's his account, I would imagine that he would be able to see everything you d/l.

how, exactly, were you 'given' the account?

Like I said, I do know him, he's not a complete stranger. But he doesn't use it that much anymore cos of travelling, but I would use it to upload/download large project files.

Anyway, I didn't know that megaupload had spyware. Are they malicious kind?

anything you are downloading without knowing the ultimate content source is dangerous. This is why torrent sites infect so many computers.
