Moving from intel to AMD, what to do?

I am moving from my i9-9900k to an R7 5800X. I have heard that transferring drives with windows on it from one platform to the other causes issues with performance and general stability. Many advise running a fresh install of windows onto the system. I was wondering if a "fresh start" will have the same effect as a fresh install from a USB since I am not looking to buy a new drive or completely wipe an existing one. Windows version and build should be the latest; don't have exact numbers since my past PC died.

I assume you're wanting to switch from a PC with an Intel Core i9-9900K CPU to a PC with an AMD Ryzen 7 5800X CPU.

If you're thinking about removing the storage drive containing Windows 10 from the Intel PC and putting it in the AMD PC and expecting it to boot and work, that's not going to happen.

After you make the switch, you'll need to do a clean install of Windows 10 and get a fresh start.
