I just purchased a notebook computer and would like to get an external wireless mouse for it. The notebook mice look very small and might be uncomfortable for me with arthritis. Would I be able to use a wireless desktop mouse with the notebook or will this be trouble.

wireless laptop mice are smaller to fit into a laptop case easier.

a wireless desktop mouse would work just fine.

You might try going into a store and trying one specifically made for the notebook. I just purchased a Microsoft mouse and it's surprisingly good in terms of feel and responsiveness for my hand.

One of the advantages of this mouse is not having to have a large receiver plugged in which you'll get with a desktop model. I purchased this one for my laptop. It is a Targus. It is comfortable and it is responsive. It too is a rechargeable and it has an on off switch to shut it down when it is packed away. It also comes with a soft cloth bag for packing it in the laptop case.
