Hi all,

I've got a pretty old Abit BL7 socket 478 motherboard that, according to the manufacturers website can handle a processor up to Intel Socket 478 Pentium 4, up to 2.6GHz (400MHz FSB). http://www.abit-usa.com/products/mb/products.php?categories=1&model=77 if you're interested. It's currently running a P4 1.5Ghz

I've been stoopid...

I've gone and bought a Pentium 4 IV P4 CPU 3Ghz 1MB/800 Socket 478 on eBay without checking to see if the MB supports it. Yeah, I know... :(

So, can the techies amongst you tell me if it would actually be a bad idea to install this new processor on this MB? What would happen if I tried it?

Thanks all.
