It never ends, I exchanged my defective motherboard and processor(which was cracked) and now I'm having trouble with the new ones. Whenever I press the power button, the case's fan and the processor's fan turn on, spin once, and stop. Nothing turns on and the power doesn't seem to be going anywhere after that. Any ideas?

Just one suggestion, many newer motherboards will shut down if they detect that they are grounded to the case. Double check the board install and ensure it is not grounding out anywhere. All of the standouts are in the proper position etc...

Just a thought

Some motherboards will shut down if the cpu fan is not connected. Usually you have more than one fan header to connect to. Make sure you are connected to the proper one. After that is done I would double check the board installation to make sure that it is not grounded somewhere.

You are going to have to remove the MB and check all of the brass standouts that screw into the case. All of them should line up with a mounting hole on the motherboard. Alot of times, the standouts are screwed into a wrong position for your particular board and end up touching the back of the board and grounding it. If there is on or 2 not lined up with a mounting hole, remove them. Then make sure the rest line up with the mounting holes.
Ther are different patterns for different board types.

Hope it helps

It's your processor if yiu get no post code beeps. Did you change the jumper or dip switch settings correctly for the CPU you have in the board? Did you crack another CPU core?

Beep Sound = Message
1 short(Beep) = System booting is normally.
2 short(Beep) = CMOS setting error
1 long - 1 short(Beep) = DRAM ERROR
1 long - 2 short(Beep) = Display card or monitor connected error
1 long - 3 short(Beep) = Keyboard Error
1 long - 9 short(Beep) = ROM Error
Long(Beep) continuous = DRAM hasn't inset correctly.
Short(Beep) continuous = POWER supply has problem.

The above are the beep codes for your board. If things are normal, you should at least have one short beep. did you hook up the wire from your case speaker to the motherboard?

A little progress. Now I can hear the CD rom and Hard drive checked like at start up, but when its the floppy's turn, nothing. I can't see anything on my screen so I can't change the BIOS. I've tried reconnecting every ribbon and jumper, and even taking out the floppy drive all together, but that hasn't worked.

Any more progress to report Marias? I'm having the same problem with an IBM at work. I can hear the computer starting up, floppy drive runs, printer kicks in, etc. but I have no beeps and no video.
