I am using Windows XP. A few weeks ago out of no where this problem started. I leave my computer on at night and the next morning I touch the mouse, the screen saver goes away and then all of a sudden the monitor just goes blank. If I shut it down by switching off the power cord (surge protector)it will be like nothing ever happened. So, I decided to shut the computer off before going to bed. I came in and turned the computer on. Thought everything was okay, but as soon as I touch the mouse it happens again. It never happens again during the day, just starts all over every morning. I am using a Dell mouse and my computer is 2 1/2 years old. I recently started working for a new medical transcription company and had to download a lot of new programs. I have defragged, gotten rid of many files off the C drive and got the programs running in the background down to a minimum. This is driving me crazy!!!! Thank you so much for any help!

Try disabling the screen saver and set it to none........and see what happens

Also check your power options in the control panel to make sure the monitor is not being turned off automatically.

I checked the power options and they are not checked to be turned off.....but, there is a yellow icon and beside it, it says "The UPS service is currently stopped.

I removed the screen saver yesterday, came in this morning and everything seems to be working as it should! Thanks so much!
