My monitor has just broken down on me, I have changed it for a backup one I had in storage, but that is only 15" when my other was 17". I have lots of unsaved work and it wont let me see my desktop as it says the resolution is too high (given that it was set for a 17" monitor). Is there any hotkey I can use to change resolutions ? I know I can use safemode but that would mean resetting my PC which will lose any work unsaved.

Any help or advice ?

Many thanks.

Sorry, I will try to explain better. The monitor broke while it was being used and I still have unsaved work on the desktop. So I haven't reset it yet, which I am sure would work if going in to safe mode. My problem is though I don't want to reset because I will lose the open work on the desktop. The screen is black with a small message in the middle saying it can't display the resolution.

If you are confused as to how I can type this, then I am using another PC (which also has a 15" monitor sadly).
