I have Compaq Desktop Presario 7935.

The monitor driver constantly crashes and defaults to a low resolution.

The error messages says it needs a new S3 driver but when i go to the s3 site it says the driver is no longer supported.

I have no idea how to install a new driver or where to find a suitable driver.

This problem is rensering my PC useless.

Any tips on how to fix it would be appreciated as I'm about to throw this PC in the garbage!

thanks in advance

I'm getting a device failure from the S3 Savage4 which causes my screen to go into low resolution and everthing gets super big and grainy.

Is this a software driver problem or is it a hardware problem?

Can I install a different software driver other than S3 Savage4?

OK,

I downloaded the driver 82031w9xowlogo

then I click on the setup.exe file

the installer opens...then I get the error dialog that says

Setup was unable to complete the installation. Check the progress log in your Windows directory for more details.

not sure what you mean?...remember I'm a beginner when it comes to video driver hardware and software...

so, my understnding is that there is a hardware video card attached to the motherboard/pc....and then there is the software component which is the driver....

Yes, S3 is the manufacture of the savage4 driver and they no longer support the driver....
