I have a NEC Ready 9732 and earlier today the modem stopped working. (After I came in the room to find my 4 year old on the computer. I think she deleted something) I checked in device manager and there is no modem showing at all.

When I reboot, everytime I reboot, I should add I get a message saying it detects Sound 4 Windmodem and is installing as well as AZT3011PnP Sound device. but then if I try to dial out it says modem not installed. What should I do?

Not sure I understand what you are trying to say here

If the modem doesn't work, then delete it and reinstall. If you only have one modem, then only one modem should be showing up

there is only one modem...and it was working this morning...

what I mean is I have shut it down several times and without uninstalling or deleteing anything it keeps telling me it detects and installs (the stuff I mentioned above) each time I reboot but no modem ever shows up in device manager.

Im not sure what kind of modem I have. but the plug in for the phone cord and the plug in for the speakers are on the same card. If that means anything.

depending on what OS you are using it may not have the drivers for the modem and therefore is not installing it. If you are using Win98SE it probably does not have a proper driver for what you need. If you have the drivers disk for the modem try deleting everything about the modem from device manager if there is any. Shut the computer down. Open the case and remove the modem from the computer. Restart the computer let it boot fully to the desk top. Then shut the computer down. replace the modem int he computer. Have your drivers disk ready. Restart the computer, when it gets to the found hardware box, tell it that you have a disk. It will ask you to put the disk in what ever drive. place the disk in the drive, tell it to look in that drive for your drivers. it should install everything forr you from there.

If you are using WinXP it should have a microsoft driver that will work. If not place the drivers disk inthe drive and run the install program.

Your sound card, and your modem, are on the same card? Are you sure that this isn't a feature to use the modem as a phone?

I dont think so considering there is only one place to plug in a phone line at and thats it...I dont know what kind of modem it is but its an old computer only running windows 95 and I have no idea how to get a driver for it since I dont know what kind it is...is there a generic driver I could get from somewhere?

Win 95 should have a generic one, but I think you would be better off just buying a new modem for 5 bucks and then you would have the drivers, a new faster modem, and less grief
