Yo, it was either this or hardware, but I think posting it here is better.
Anyway my modem usually connects at 48,49,50 and 52 Kb/s.
The theoretical maximum speed I can download with is 8KB/s, but you know how if u're starting to download something off a server (eg. patch for starcraft), in the first one or two seconds the speeds can be insane, like 60KB/s. And it actually works, because it says (62/180kb), so in the first second it actually downloads data at that speed.
So my question is, why can't it always download stuff at that speed? Is it just a data burst mode kinda like DMA???
