This is kind of funny. I bought the officexp student teachers eddition last year. within that last year i wiped my hd and moved. as it turns out after i moved i lost the main installation cd but still have the media and tutorial cd's. i was wondering if there was anyway i could find a way to install office again without having to go out and buy the whole thing again. (quite expensive)

You can use anybody's Office CD of the same type. When it comes to enter the registration number you must enter in your valid registration number.

Since you still have the media (media? that is the CD! but perhaps you mean you still have the packaging) then your registration number will be there. The CDs, of one version type, are all identical. The registration number is not recorded on the CD. Instead the reg number is somewhere in, or on, the packaging.

According to MS you are allowed to install Office on two or your PC's, one being your desktop PC, the other being your laptop. Not your fiend's PC, not a co-worker's PC, just yours.

Note: I don't have the EULA (End User's License Agreement) for the Teacher/Student version, but it might be limited to just one PC - you may have to investigate that, as well.

My friend has xp professional but that didn't work so i uninstalled it (When i tried to activate it it says number already in use) so i don't know anybody that has xp standard. and when i said media cd i meant the 2nd disc that came in the package that has a bunch of clipart and other additional media.

Your CD Key that (hopefully) you still have will only work on the same version of Office (Student and Teachers), so a "Standard" version CD is unlikely to be useable with your number.

Just as well the activation failed with the other one, that sounds like you were using his number, not yours? If it had worked, he would be locked out of his system in the future. Be careful!

Student and Teachers is usually OK to install on 3 PC's in the household under the EULA.

XP Profesional is the Windows, ... you were talking about Office.

As I explained, your registration number will only work with "anybody's Office CD of the same type." In this case, a student/teacher version. Contact another student or teacher who also has that same CD. Using their CD is not going to take anything away from them, you are not doing anything illegal, you will be using your own registration number.
