I am getting an error saying I am missing my APPS.INF file. I have an HP Pavilion System Recovery Disk that came with the system but it doesn't seem to have this file. I am using Windows 98. How can I download this file? I have searched the internet for this for the last hour.

Click the Start button; Run; type 'msconfig', without the quotation marks, in the Run box and click OK; Then click the Startup tab; Uncheck anything you don't need running in the background.

The apps.inf file should be in the C:\Windows\Inf folder. If it is indeed missing, there may be a backup in the C:\Windows\Inf\Infback folder. Either run a 'Find' files or folders search to locate it in either location, or check both locations using Windows Explorer. Then copy it to the C:\Windows\Inf folder. If it doesn't exist in either directory, use System File Checker to extract a copy from the C:\Windows\Options\Cabs folder.

Thanks for you help. I was able to extract it from a friends computer and email it to myself and save it in my INF file. That seem to fix it. I sure wish I had thought of that about 4 hours earlier! Thanks for your replies.
